2015 TUSTIN AREA MAN OF THE YEAR: John McGuire

Mark Eliot

John is a professional photographer but he also donates a lot of his time to the City of Tustin. His favorite thing to do is take photos of community activi- ties, fundraisers and parades that go on in Tustin. He always makes himself available with his camera on his shoulder. John and his wife Diane and daughter Katie (a local college student) love to go camping and they enjoy the outdoors and find beautiful areas to take photos (John always has his camera along!). John is a real people person and enjoys making new friends.
He currently belongs to Professional Photographers of California (PPC) and the American Society of Modern Photographers (ASMP). As a contributor to our community, John photographs fundraisers, such as Miss Tustin Fashion shows, Jim Palmer’s rescue Mission activities, and also events of the Exchange Club of Tustin. He also takes numerous photos of the Mayor and City Council members throughout the year as well as photographing many Tustin school activities and sports events throughout the Tustin Unified School District. John received a special award from the City of Tustin in July of 2013 for his hard work and dedication. Look for him at events like the annual Chili Cook-Off, Tustin Tiller Days (as well as the kick-off parade), Enderle Center Holiday Show, Christmas Tree Lighting, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Haunt, Concerts in the Park, Art Walk, Tustin Chamber’s Leprechaun Leap, and Tustin Public Schools Foundation Dino Dash-and for many years John has been the photographer for Tustin Area Man/Woman of the Year.
John’s other volunteer activities include being a mentor for the Miss Tustin Scholarship Pageant contestants. He created a photo booth display for Tustin Tiller Days, telling the story of this city event. He was a volunteer classroom helper in all classrooms at the elementary school level. He volunteered during school carnivals and helped in classroom booths, and chaperoned Tustin High Cheer squad to football and basketball games. He is a very busy “Mr. Tustin” volunteer.
